Publications

Over the past several months I've been fortunate to have my writing and even some of my photographs featured online and in print. My previous work with Calgary Is Awesome and current work with the Calgary Guardian have given me a strong passion for writing, especially about the outdoors. My volunteer work with GOT Parks has also steadily continued. Here's what I've been up to lately...

Get Out There Magazine ran a short story titled, GOT Parks is Getting Our Youth Outside, which discussed our initiative and how we've been encouraging Canadian youth to get outside and share their adventures with us online. This story was published in December of 2014 on their website.

In the June/July 2015 issue of Our Canada my story titled, An Epic Journey to Grey Owl's Cabin, was featured. It recounted the unforgettable trip that Mike and I took to Prince Albert National Park in search of Grey Owl's Cabin. They also featured an online photo gallery, To Grey Owl's Or Bust, that highlighted our trip in greater detail than they were able to in the magazine.

Here's the two-page feature from the magazine
In October 2015 Highline, the prominent magazine in the Bow Valley, ran my story, The Eagle Highway, on their website. Highline is an awesome magazine; one that I read on a regular basis, so I am hoping to do some more work with them in the future!
In the fall of 2015 The National Trust For Canada contacted me about using a couple of my photographs in an upcoming issue of Hēritage, their quarterly magazine. The photographs were to accompany the story, Paskapoo Slopes: Accommodating Blackfoot Cultural Heritage, in Volume XVIII, Number 3 of the magazine. Two of my photos were featured, one with the article and the other in the table of contents at the beginning of the magazine.

In the January 2016 issue of More of Our Canada, a magazine that's published in opposite months of Our Canada, featured my story, Searching For Wild Bill. The story outlines my years-long search for the mysterious cabin that belonged to one of Banff's most notorious characters.

My story about Wild Bill Peyto, one of Banff's earliest wardens
As always, you can continue to read my posts on the Calgary Guardian website and follow me right here on this blog. I have a few other potential stories in the works that may be published over the coming year, so i'll be sure to keep you up to date as they come to fruition.
